Roy Goldsbrough

It is with great sadness that I inform everyone that our friend and long-standing Par 3 Club member Roy Goldsbrough passed away on Tuesday earlier this week.

Roy’s membership of the Par 3 Club goes back further than my own (I joined in 2008) and he is well known to many members. In his earlier years he was a regular player in our social events including the 3 day trips to Ashbury Manor (Devon), which he had a hand in organising.

Roy was one of the regular early birds in our weekly Tuesday competitions and managed to play most weeks. However, last month Roy contacted me to say that he was having trouble with being able to play and said it was not likely that he would be playing golf for the foreseeable future.

Our thoughts are with Roy’s family and friends at this sad time, made all the more difficult given the time of year. We will all miss Roy’s dry sense of humour, accompanied with that cheeky smile.

Jean Durrant

I appreciate that this news will come as a great shock to all of you, as it did to me.
It is with an enormously heavy heart that I inform you that Jean Durrant passed away suddenly this morning.
Jean was out walking with her husband Dave when she was taken unwell and collapsed.
Dave has asked me to put this message out to everyone in the Par 3 Club so that you are aware of the situation.
It was only a week ago that we were celebrating Jean’s achievement in winning this year’s Ladies Club Championship. As always Jean was cheerful and bubbly, and that is certainly how I will always remember her.
I will of course pass on any further details as and when I receive them.

All our thoughts are with Dave and their family.

Winter Times & Winter Rules

During the winter the start time for our first tee time is adjusted to fit in with the changing daylight conditions, ranging from 20 mins later to 50 mins later. Therefore all the tee times are adjusted accordingly, including all the pre-booked times.

The Winter Rules are now in force.
Which basically means that “preferred lies” on fairways and fringes.
Also, if your ball hits ropes or posts protecting the green you MUST retake your shot.

Congratulations to Richard Moskwa, Helen Whitehand & Jane Steventon who were the 3 top individual winners (“The Three Kings“) who made up the winning team with a score of 121 Points. All remaining teams were selected at random (“Blind“).
