Par 3 Club

Annual General meeting

held on Tuesday 14 November 2017

1

Welcome

The Chairman, Richard Hone, welcomed everyone to the meeting.  There were 60 members present.

2 Charity Presentation

Elaine Hopkins, from the Nottinghamshire Hospice, was presented with a cheque for £1,000 from the Par 3 club. She also received a donation from the Ramsdale Seniors.  Ninety pence out of every pound raised goes on care.  Members were thanked for their generosity.

3 Minutes of the AGM held on 8 November 2016, were accepted as a true record.
4 Review of the year

The secretary, Irene Mitchell, reported on the year’s events which, as always, were varied, interesting and extremely well supported.  The lady champion this year was Pat Linnington and Terry Croft was the men’s champion.  We continued to attract new members and ended the year with 120 players.

5 Financial report

The treasurer, John Greenwood, presented the accounts and gave an excellent explanation of how our funds are managed.  The closing balance for the year is £2,093.

PROPOSAL :  To simplify money collection for both members and the treasurer,

the match play and winter eclectic competitions will be free in 2018 and the annual subscription will rise to £10.

This proposal was unanimously agreed.

6 Competition Review

Richard Hone mentioned how the handicap system worked, the game formats we play and said that the ghost player system is working well.  He then went on to discuss how our pace of play can be improved, as this has been a recurring problem with such large numbers of people playing every week.  He will post suggestions on the website as a reminder.

7 Monthly Special Events

Our events organiser, Ron Coles, spoke about this year’s games, which included a new venue at Morley Hayes.  All outings were well attended.

8 Christmas Presentation Day

Last year’s new format was highly successful so Ron Coles is organising the same for this year.  Members were asked to arrive promptly as it is a shotgun start.  Should the weather be unfit, the lunch, raffle and trophy presentations will go ahead.

9 Par 3 Club Uniforms

Pat Linnington reminded players that club sweat and polo shirts can be purchased from her, with samples available to try on.

She also updated everyone on Nigel Hart’s progress after a serious operation.  It is hoped he will be home very soon.

10 Committee for 2018

Garry Seagrave was co-opted onto the committee during the year because Terry Nicol had retired.  Garry is now a full member.

11 AGM 9 Hole Challenge

55 players took part in the competition.
